February PMA Booster Meeting/Pre MPA Concert

 Hello PRIDE Parents!
Our Annual MPA Preview Concert & Feb. PMA Meeting is coming up next Thursday the 19th.   This concert will feature the Rainbow Middle School Advanced Concert Band as well as the Southside High School Symphonic Band & Wind Ensemble.  Students will perform their 2015 MPA programs for you and receive comments and suggestions from our panel of guest judges.
The concert will begin at 5:30pm in the SHS Biddle Auditorium.  No admission will be charged.
This concert will also serve as the February Pride Music Association Meeting.  Our Nominating Committee has been working hard on a list of potential officers to be presented at our next meeting.  If you have any suggestions or are interested in a position yourself, please contact committee chairman Bain Stephens at: bainstephens@thompsontractor.com

Another All-District Musician from RMS

Another word of congratulations is due to RMS Tenor Sax player, Jose Arquitola, who auditioned for and was accepted to the District 2 All-District Band.  Way to go, Jose!  We are so proud of you and the others who were accepted!

2015 PRIDE Auxiliary Training Camp – Feb. 28th

Interested in becoming an auxiliary member of “The PRIDE” one day?  Then come to our 2nd annual Auxiliary Training Camp, Saturday February 28th at Southside High School.  Our fantastic staff of instructors will be working with any young ladies interested in becoming a member of the Southside Colorguard, Crimsonette Danceline or Majorettes.

Registration opens at 9am in the SHS band room.  Camp cost is $20 due at registration. (Checks made payable to: Southside HS Band)

You may choose to work with one or two auxiliary sections

Please wear athletic clothing and tennis or dance shoes.


WHO: Any interested RMS or SHS young lady

WHEN: Saturday, February 28th

TIME: 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

WHERE: Southside HS Bandroom

JSU Honor Band – May 7-9, 2015


Hello PRIDE,

Each May, the RMS & SHS Band program sends a proud group of students to the Jacksonville State University Honor Band.  Last year, we took a record 48 students to Jacksonville!  That’s more students than almost any other participating school.  This year, we’d love to take even more students.

This honor band is a wonderful experience for student musicians of all ages and abilities.  It is especially kind for younger players who have not participated in this type of event before.  The JSU Honor Band also offers a glimpse into college and campus life for seniors, as students get to stay on campus in University Housing.

Interested students in 7th – 12th grade should sign up their director.

COST/HOW TO PAY: $155.00

The Pride Music Association will write one check to JSU for our students in order to cut down on registration paper work.  As such, we ask that you do not pay online after your application is complete.  We will travel to Jacksonville together as a group via school bus.  In order to pay towards the cost of transportation, each student has been asked to pay $5.

Please turn in checks payable to: The Pride Music Association  to the Directors by April 13th.

Final Bed Sheet Sale Info – Orders Due 1/30/15

Hello PRIDE!


We’ve had a great response so far to our Bed Sheet fundraiser, and time is almost up. This is a friendly reminder that our sale ends tomorrow January 28th. There’s still time to get in those last minute orders! Remember, 100% of all profits earned goes straight towards student’s fees.


As you prepare to turn in orders, please keep the following information in mind:


  1. All order forms and money must be turned into the directors no later than Friday, January 30th. Checks should be made payable to: The Pride Music Association.
  2. All orders and monies collected must match. Please double-check your orders before turning them in, inside a sealed envelope.
  3. Make sure that the student’s name is clear and legible on all order forms.
  4. Multiple order forms should be stabled together and numbered in the space provided in the top, left hand corner. (Ex. Page 1 of 3, Page 2 of 3 etc.)


Orders will be placed as soon as possible. We expect orders to be delivered approximately two weeks after the total order is placed. We will need approximately 10 parent volunteers on the day that the sheets arrive to help organize orders. Information regarding exact pick up dates and times will be sent out as soon as we know when orders will arrive.
