Jacksonville State University Honor Band Information

May 6th -7th 2016

Hello PRIDE

Each May, the RMS & SHS Band program sends a proud group of students to the Jacksonville State University Honor Band.  Last year, we took a record 53 students to Jacksonville!  That’s more students than almost any other participating school.  This year, we’d love to take even more students.

This honor band is a wonderful experience for student musicians.  It is especially encouraging for younger players who have not participated in this type of event before.  The JSU Honor Band also offers a glimpse into college and campus life for seniors, as students get to stay on campus in University Housing. 

Interested students in 7th – 12th grade should sign up online & with Mrs. Probst or Mr. Weaver

HOW TO APPLY: All applications must be filled out online at: http://www.jsuhonorband.com Follow ALL instructions and download/print the required forms.

DEADLINE: Registration closes March 25th. All participants must register online in order to be accepted. 

You must enter in your director’s correct email address in order to apply.

COST/HOW TO PAY: $140.00

The PRIDE Music Association will write one check to JSU for our students in order to cut down on registration paper work.  As such, we ask that you do not pay online after your application is complete.  We will travel to Jacksonville together as a group via school bus.  In order to pay towards the cost of transportation, each student has been asked to pay $5.

Please turn in checks payable to: The PRIDE Music Association to the Directors by April 12th.

Please review the information below regarding our upcoming PRIDE Music Association meetings. These are very important parent meetings.  Your attendance and support is greatly appreciated!

Upcoming PRIDE Music Association Meetings

Monday, March 7th: PMA Meeting

There will be a PMA meeting on Monday March 7th.  During this meeting, the membership (parents) will vote and elect the 2016/2017 PMA Executive Board.  After the regular business meeting is concluded, Cindy Dunteman will talk to us about the Mattress Sale and volunteers will be assigned to their jobs

*This is an extremely important meeting!  All band students and parents should be in attendance.  

 

3rd Semi-Annual Mattress Sale: Saturday, March 19th

Our 3rd ever Mattress Sale will be held at the Southside HS band room Saturday, March 19th.  Brand name, quality mattresses will be sold for as much as 50% – 60% off of retail value!  In addition, this year we will also be selling brand name luxury pillows.

This event is aimed to help the PMA raise money for new equipment and instruments; however, students will have the opportunity to earn money towards their membership and trip fees.  More details will be given at out February 18thmeeting.

Thursday, February 18th: MPA Preview Concert / PMA Meeting

There will be a brief PMA meeting during our MPA Preview Concert. During this meeting our nominating committee will make their report for next year’s executive board & Cindy Dunteman of Custom Fundraising Solutions will talk to us about our upcoming Mattress Sale.

Tickets to The Sound of Music at the Fox Now Available!

TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE FOR RMS BAND STUDENTS AND THEIR PARENTS

Trip will be March 3, 2016 (1PM – Midnight), via charter bus to the Fox Theater in Atlanta

Tickets are $60 each (limit 3 per family).  Please fill out this Sound of Music Form and return along with payment to Mrs. Probst before February 9th.  Space is limited, so purchase your tickets for this unforgettable evening soon!
